The U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas has installed a number of electronic courtrooms in the Dallas and Fort Worth divisions designed to streamline the litigation process through the use of electronic evidence presentation systems while preserving the fairness and dignity of the proceedings. The evidence presentation system allows counsel to present evidence electronically and allows jurors to view evidence up close. It is strongly recommended that VGA compatible devices such as laptops with VGA output are used for evidence presentation unless a courtroom is designated as Digital. Interpretation equipment is available and assistive listening systems are available for the hearing impaired.
- The court recommends that all persons planning to use the equipment schedule training at least a week before the trial begins.
- To schedule training, first contact the courtroom deputy. Courtroom deputies in Dallas may then ask you to contact David Jones via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Courtroom deputies in Fort Worth may then ask you to contact Brian Rebecek at 817-850-6613. The courtroom deputy must be aware of your scheduled training time to ensure the courtroom is available and to alert security that you will be training in the courtroom.
- If you plan to use a laptop or or any other equpiment you intend to use during the trial please bring them to your training session. Remote audio or video services must be approved by the presiding judge in advance of the trial.
- Arrive early on the day of trial to set up laptop(s), document camera, etc.
